Rapidocs offers a
comprehensive Application Programming Interface
(API) to allow developers to integrate Rapidocs with
other applications. This consists of a number of COM
interfaces known collectively as DataServer.
DataServer is most often used to pre-populate
answers in a Rapidocs file from information stored
in databases, or to extract answers from a Rapidocs
file and record them in a database. However,
Rapidocs provides API’s to manage the meta-data
within a Rapidocs file, or to communicate with a
document store. Using the APIs, Rapidocs
documents can be managed within a workflow process,
for example, to control permissions at each stage.
However, DataServer opens up virtually unlimited
opportunities for seamlessly integrating Rapidocs
into other applications.
Rapidocs can
be easily integrated with third party application
software, such as databases or web servers. A
range of interfaces are provided using a standard
COM architecture, making it accessible from a range
of common programming languages.
The most common use of these interfaces
is to capture information entered during the
Assembly or questionnaire process and store that
information in appropriate databases such as CRM or
Case Management systems. The reverse process is also
possible, using existing database details to
pre-answer questions, accelerating the process of
preparing a document.
However, Rapidocs integration components
go much further, enabling tight integration with
other infrastructure applications where needed.
Rapidocs documents can be exported to a
variety of formats including Microsoft Word, Rich
Text Format, WordPerfect, HTML and plain text.
Similarly, formatted text can be copied between
Rapidocs and most other Windows applications.
